WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Hong Kong takes 3rd place in Morocco

The City Chase world championships took place in Morocco earlier this month (Novermber, 2009) and we have just received news that the Hong Kong representatives Damian Levy and Adrian Choux took home the 3rd position. We will post a report on their adventures soon, but here is a taster of what their gruelling three day challenge involved: running, biking, canoeing in a freezing cold dangerous river, camel race, quad race, fashion show, memory test, eating a sheep's head, climbing a fireman's ladder, abseiling, getting lost in the souk (commercial quater of the city), pottery, eating live shrimps, cutting fish, tyrolienne (zip wire), sleeping in a tent on the moutain, sleeping in morrocain family home, and much much more....

World’s Largest Urban Adventure Race
is Back in Hong Kong

- Nat Geo City Chase presented by Standard Life to test mind, body and soul through humorous, mental and physical challenges -

(Hong Kong, 27 September 2008) Hong Kong will host City Chase for the second time on 18 October 2008 with Nat Geo as title sponsor for this year’s event. Online registration is open now. Get ready to experience a day of Laughter, Discovery and Adventure in this part scavenger hunt, part urban adventure race, all rolled into one memorable and unique experience.

Nat Geo City Chase hosted a pre-event challenge today (27 September) to kick off the festivities. The pre-event was held in Causeway Bay and offered the public a chance to experience the fun and laughter of City Chase while competing in an event that was designed to mimic the ChasePoints in the race. Participants had to find a cooked prawn in a bowl of mayonnaise using only their mouths. The winning team from the challenge won a free entry into City Chase and will now compete against other chasers to win a trip to the City Chase World Championships.

Nat Geo City Chase, presented by Standard Life (Asia) Ltd, will start off in teams of two with a clue sheet detailing a list of physical, intellectual and fun challenges – known as ChasePoints – which participants will have to conquer. In previous races, these have varied from abseiling down buildings, surviving a bucking bronco, learning complicated dance moves, diving off a high dive tower, busking for money and eating worms mixed with curry powder.

To conquer the 4-6 hour urban event, teams need to run, walk or use public transport to navigate their way throughout Hong Kong, while calling family and friends for help, accessing the Internet, and even employing the assistance of total strangers. The first team to complete the required ChasePoints and cross the finish line wins. The details of this year’s challenges will be a closely guarded secret and only divulged to race goers on the day of the event.

The winning team from Hong Kong will then jet off on a trip to the City Chase World Championships, which will be held in the exotic and beautiful city of Marrakech, Morocco from 5 – 9 November 2008. They will compete against the winners from Canada, USA, France, UK, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Australia and Singapore in this international destination known for its mystique, culture and heritage.

Last year’s event attracted nearly 200 participating teams and at the 2007 World Championship City Chase in Rome, Italy, Hong Kong’s winning team made up of Ng Chung Ting and Wong Wai-Kin had to navigate their way through the streets of Rome, employing their wits, stamina, physical strength and sense of humour to complete 22 ChasePoint challenges. Hong Kong placed 4th overall after 50 hours of tremendous racing, a valiant effort from the first-time team.
